Insulation Parts and Molded Parts for Electric Motors and Generators

Gotthardt Isolierteile GmbH has been manufacturing high-quality insulation parts and molded parts from polyester films (PET) and other proven electrical insulation materials for over 60 years. They are among the safety-critical components in electric motors and generators: they prevent electrical flashovers and thus ensure the service life and operational safety of the machines. Our customers benefit from fast delivery times, ISO-certified quality and custom solutions.

What Are Insulation Parts and Molded Parts?

Insulation parts are electrically non-conductive components that are precisely integrated into motors and generators. While stamped parts are two-dimensional, molded parts are created by applying force to a flat material to permanently form it into a three-dimensional geometry.

With modern embossing and folding tools, we realize a wide variety of angles, shapes and dimensions. Uniform and permanent embossing ensures that the components remain load-bearing throughout their entire service life.

Applications of Insulation Parts and Molded Parts

Dimensions range from the smallest insulation components for fan motors through medium-sized molded parts for industrial drive technology to large-format components for wind power generators.

Knowledge from our glossary

Technical fundamentals and term explanations on this topic.

  • Slot Insulation

Slot insulation is the insulation of stator slots in electrical machines to protect the windings from mechanical damage.

  • Field Coil Insulation

Field coil insulation refers to insulating layers and components that electrically separate field coils from the pole core, enclosure and adjacent windings.

  • Turn Insulation

Turn insulation is the first insulation layer in electrical machines, electrically separating individual conductor turns from one another.

  • Armature Insulation

Armature insulation is an insulating part that electrically separates the copper wire from the lamination stack of the armature and protects it mechanically.

  • Form Coils

Form coils are preformed windings brought into their final geometry in a defined tool before being installed in electrical machines.

  • Insulation Paper (Electric Motors)

Insulation paper protects the copper windings in electric motors against short circuits, flashovers, and failures.
