Filter fleece slitting

Materials we slit

Filter fleeces and filter media for every application

GOBA processes a wide range of filter fleeces and filter media through contract slitting. Our experience with sensitive nonwovens and technical materials allows us to slit even demanding filter media to size without damaging the fiber structure.

HEPA filter media

High-efficiency filter media of classes H13 and H14 require special care during slitting. Even the slightest damage to the microstructure can significantly reduce the separation efficiency. We slit HEPA filter media precisely and gently on your desired width.

Meltblown nonwovens

Meltblown nonwovens are the core of many filter systems, from respiratory protection masks to fine filters in industrial ventilation. Due to their fine fiber structure and low mechanical resilience, meltblown nonwovens require particularly gentle processing.

Needle felts for industrial filtration

Needle felts are used in industrial dust filtration, filter bags, and filter plates. We slit needle felts made of polyester, polypropylene, PTFE, and aramid in all standard widths.

Air filter fleeces for bag and cassette filters

Filter fleeces for HVAC systems must be cut precisely to the dimensions of the respective filter frames. GOBA delivers air filter fleeces in the custom widths you need for your bag filters and cassette filters.

Activated carbon fleeces

Activated carbon-impregnated nonwovens are used for the adsorption of gases and odors. Slitting requires care to avoid releasing the activated carbon particles and to preserve the adsorption capacity.

Electrostatic filter fleeces

Electret fleeces use electrostatic charge for enhanced particle separation. During slitting, care must be taken not to impair the charge. Our processes are specifically adapted for this purpose.

Glass fiber fleeces for high-temperature filtration

Glass fiber filter media are used where synthetic fleeces reach their thermal limits, such as in flue gas cleaning or high-temperature industrial processes. GOBA processes glass fiber fleeces with the necessary care for the brittle material.

Synthetic filter fleeces (PP, PE, PET)

Polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyester filter fleeces form the basis of many standard filtration systems. We slit these materials in all thicknesses and grammages to the desired roll width.

Technical capabilities for filter fleece slitting

The precision that filtration demands

Filter media place special demands on the slitting process. Many filter fleeces are mechanically sensitive, have low tear strength, or react sensitively to tension. GOBA has accumulated over six decades of experience in processing thin and sensitive web materials. Our equipment and processes are designed to slit filter fleece precisely without impairing the fiber structure or filtration properties.

ParameterSpecification
Slitting width5 to 1,600 mm
Tolerance+/- 0.1 mm
Slitting speedup to 400 m/min
Core diameter25 / 55 / 76 / 152 mm

For filter fleeces, we adjust the web speed to the material. Sensitive meltblown nonwovens or glass fiber media are processed more slowly than robust needle felts to prevent fiber breakage and structural damage. We place particular importance on cut edge quality, because frayed edges can lead to leaks and bypass flow in filtration.

Our slitting machines feature precise web guiding systems with automatic edge control. This ensures that even with thin and lightweight nonwovens, a uniform winding structure and consistent slitting width are guaranteed over the entire roll length.

Application examples for filter fleece contract slitting

HVAC and ventilation systems

In building ventilation, filter fleeces are used in supply and exhaust air systems, air conditioning units, and ventilation systems. The filter fleeces must be cut precisely to the dimensions of the respective filter frames and cassettes. GOBA delivers filter fleeces in the custom widths that manufacturers of ventilation systems and filter cassettes need for their production, from narrow strips for compact filters to wide webs for bag filter systems.

Industrial exhaust air purification

In industrial exhaust air purification, needle felts and synthetic nonwovens filter dust, smoke, and aerosols from process exhaust gases. The demands on material resistance and cut edge precision are high, as the filter elements are exposed to high temperatures, chemical loads, and mechanical stress from cleaning pulses.

Medical technology and cleanroom technology

In operating rooms, cleanrooms, and pharmaceutical production environments, HEPA and ULPA filter media are used to ensure germ-free and particle-free air. The precision of the cut is particularly critical here, as any leak can compromise the cleanroom classification.

Automotive industry: cabin filters and engine air filters

Automotive suppliers need filter fleeces for cabin air filters (pollen filters), engine air filters, and fuel filters. These filter media must often be converted in narrow widths and with the tightest tolerances to fit the intended filter housings. Meltblown nonwovens with activated carbon coating for combination filters are a typical example of materials we slit for the automotive industry.
